The WQRP investigates water quality and related environmental problems at all Corps water resource projects. The objective of the WQRP is to provide cost-effective methods and guidance for solving problems related to project water quality and related environmental conditions. The products and knowledge acquired from the WQRP allow the Corps to develop new projects or modify existing projects to achieve the environmental goals of the Nation. The WQRP has successfully improved water quality at Corps projects, reduced the costs of required water quality monitoring, and provided new and better predictive capabilities.
Research efforts are currently focused on improving the understanding of processes affecting water quality and the biotic structure of aquatic systems, developing technology for assessing water quality, and developing tools that allow field personnel to accurately and efficiently integrate environmental and water quality considerations with other project purposes.
