Water Operations Technical Support Program (WOTS) supports technology transfer efforts for environmental and Water quality operational studies. The WOTS Program provides effective environmental and water management engineering technology to address a wide range of water resource management problems at Corps of Engineers reservoir and waterway projects, and in the river systems affected by project operations nationwide.
The Water Operations Technical Support (WOTS) Program was initiated in 1985 to support the Corps' operations community to address complex and interrelated impacts of project operations at near-field to system scales.
The WOTS Program provides effective environmental and water management technology solutions to address a wide range of water resource management problems associated with operations to USACE Divisions and Districts
This research and technology transfer is part of the overall effort
of the Corps to comply with the environmental laws that apply to its
projects. Effective response to existing and emerging environmental
concerns requires ready access to scientific knowledge to address issues,
avoid problems, and reduce uncertainties in water operations.
The WOTS Program continues to provide a mechanism for the Corps to identify,
develop, and share innovative concepts and technologies that will
support sustainable engineering solutions to complex environmental
problems at Corps projects nationwide. The Corps also uses these funds
to manage its efforts to apply these concepts and technologies consistently
at a national level.
